What Is Urinetown To You?

“What kind of musical is this?” asks Little Sally, wide-eyed in the dark, dystopian city in which the action takes place. With its tongue firmly implanted in its cheek, Urinetown is a place where a drought has led to a ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single corrupt company, owned by a single corrupt man. So, to answer your question, Little Sally, Urinetown is an irreverent satire of big business, big government, the legal system, revolutions, Brecht, Weill, love, musical comedy, and pretty much everything else it can squeeze into its smart, snappy, sarcastic script. See Brockport’s performance of Urinetown April 20-22, 26-28 at the Tower Fine Arts Center Mainstage. Buy tickets at the box office in Tower or here: https://brockportarts.universityticke…
