No Bailout For Casinos, Woman Saved From River, And Rochester Hockey

By Ben Grimaudo @ben-grimaud

The struggling del Lago casino will not receive a bailout from New York state. On Tuesday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the state will not provide an aid despite the casino’s owner Thomas Wilmot’s pleas. Cuomo issued a statement saying, “the upstate gaming casinos are private concerns.”

On Wednesday morning a woman was rescued from the Genesee River. Emergency responders came to the scene after a call from a nearby resident who saw her struggling in the river. She was then brought to Strong Memorial Hospital and the extent of her injuries are not yet known.

Get ready hockey fans, the Rochester Americans are in the Calder Cup playoffs for the first time since 2014. Rochester clinched a spot following a 4-2 victory over the Springfield Thunderbirds on Saturday night. Tickets will go on sale starting on April 9th with the cheapest ones selling for $14.00.
