Rochester-area native stars in Black Panther and two new animals at Buffalo Zoo

A Rochester-area native is representing the region in the highly anticipated movie, Black Panther. Winston Duke graduated from Brighton High School after immigrating to the United States at age 9. Duke recently gave a shout out on Twitter to his high school teacher who got him involved in acting. He’s also had other roles in TV shows such as Modern Family and Person of Interest.

Two new furry friends are now calling the Buffalo Zoo home. A couple Canada Lynx came to Buffalo from Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut in late November. They have completed a health quarantine and are now living in their new habitat. The lynx sisters are named Rosie and Hazel. They are located in the Arctic Edge section of the zoo.

Brockport’s Annual Leadership Conference is just around the corner. This year’s conference will take place February 25th at 11 in the morning in the Union. The theme is Empowering Ourselves to Empower Others. You can register online at brockport.edu/life/leadership.
