Brockport Football Coach Receives Award, Village Power Outage, and Fatal Car Accident

The Brockport Wegmans was shut down Sunday after a power outage that surged through areas of Brockport. While many wegmans employees tried to assist customers by shining flashlights down the aisles, management closed doors, on super bowl sunday, to prevent any accidents or injuries to their shoppers. The store opened back up once the power was restored. The reason for the outage is still unknown.

A man has died following a crash on Saturday afternoon. Mauriece Johnson of Rochester had to be removed from his vehicle by first responders. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died due to his injuries.

THe AFCA announced the selections for Coach of the year, and one of Brockport’s own was named Division III National Football Coach of the Year.  Jason Mangone lead Brockport football to  No. 5, according to the polls. The Golden Eagles had an almost undefeated season, and the players are looking forward to next season.

New Homeless Center, Memorial Vandalized, and Brockport Football Wins Big

Rochester’s new homeless shelter, reach home, will be opening next Sunday. They are seeking donations to help pay for utilities, rent, staff and social workers.

A veterans memorial statue has been vandalized at the VFW Post on macedon center road in Fairport. the battlefield cross was reported vandalized and stolen just a few days ago. Veterans say it will cost $4800 to replace it.

The College at Brockports football team claimed the 2017 empire 8 title on Saturday. This season marks the first time since 2003 that the golden eagles have qualified for the playoffs. The first playoff game will take place on Saturday, November 18th here at Brockport!

Rochester Judge Violates Probation, Starbucks Holiday Deals, and Golden Eagles Football

Rochester city court judge Leticia Astacio has been accused of violating her probation again. Astacio refused to wear her scram device, an ankle bracelet that monitors alcohol consumption.  Judge Astacio was found guilty of driving while intoxicated in august 2016.since then she has made headlines after violating the terms of her probation and being  jailed twice. She went to court yesterday afternoon and the results of the hearing have yet to be released.

Starbucks is kicking off their two drinks for the price of one holiday special. From today until Monday customers can buy a holiday beverage and get a second free a parts their “give good” campaign which encourages customers to share their extra drink with someone.

This weekend, Brockport’s football team will face St. Lawrence university in Canton, NY.  if the golden eagles can pull of the win, they will have a 10-0 record, which would tie brockport’s previous record for total season wins. The golden eagles take the field on Saturday at 1p.m.
