New Additions to Seneca Park Zoo and Veteran from Rochester To Be United with Pen Pal

Change is in the air, especially at the Seneca Park Zoo. Yesterday demolition of the old main building, built in 1931, commenced as the zoo prepares for a new Tropic Complex to take its place. Hoping to bring a wow factor, the new complex will offer new spaces for the gorillas and orangutans as well as an aquarium. Seneca Park Zoo’s renovations are planned to completed by 2022.

Sharon Chaplain, an Air Force veteran from Rochester, who was station in South Korea during Operation Desert Storm will be will having her wish granted. 27 years ago while stationed overseas, Sharon received letters from young girl who’s name is Alice and would go on to be her pen pal. The two will finally be able to meet tomorrow.
