Damaging High Winds In Western New York and A Fatal Officer Involved Shooting

By Johnny Nixon @John_R_Nixon

Extremely high gusts of wind throughout Western New York caused problems yesterday. Rochester Gas & Electric reported over 10,000 residents without power, and Monroe County issued a ban to keep trucks off of county roads. The up to 60 mile per hour winds toppled 6 trailer trucks around the Rochester area, causing segments of major roads and highways to close at points during the day

A man was shot and killed by a police officer in Greece today. Police responded to a call made by the man around 2 am, in which he threatened to kill his wife. The first officer on the scene was met by the man carrying the rifle, who refused to drop the weapon and then proceeded to point it at the officer. The officer then shot the man, who was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigations are ongoing.
