For the past several months, The College at Brockport has been searching for candidates to fill two key administrative positions on campus. This coming week, the candidates will speak out in a series of public meetings.
Three candidates for the positions of Chief Information Officer and Associate Provost will be speaking over the course of three days in public forums to be held in Seymour College Union. The candidates will be discussing their experience as well as their plans for the position.
The meetings will begin Monday, March 2 and will last one hour.
Meet The Candidates
STEPHEN CAMPBELL CIO/Information Security Officer, Christopher Newport University
A University of Maryland and Rochester Institute of Technology alum (from whom he earned two master’s degrees in business and information technologies), Campbell has served as the CIO for Christopher Newport University in Virginia nearly four years. Responsible for both development and security of information technologies at the school, Campbell also ensured peak efficiency of information tech as well. A 20-year director of Resources Flight and A Senior Technologist for the United States Air Force, Campbell has been serving in higher education since 1998, beginning his career as chief technologist at RIT in ’98.

JEFFREY SMITH Interim Associate Provost/CIO,The College at Brockport
Smith, who has held the interim roles for both positions since July ’13, will be looking to maintain his position in his Tuesday meeting. Working across a number of responsibilities, including the functions of the library, technology support services, IT systems, web, and information security, Smith has been responsible for the functions of just about every aspect of the college’s digital security for nearly two years. Beginning his career at the college in ’05 in information technology support services, Smith completed his undergraduate degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology, later earning his MPA from The College at Brockport.

EILEEN WIRLEY Associate Chief Information Officer, University of Rochester
Responsible for the University of Rochester’s enterprise computing strategies and operations since ’08, Wirley is the final candidate the Brockport will be hosting in an open forum for the position. Beginning her career at Eastman-Kodak in London back in ’91, Wirley began her career as a special projects manager in office imaging before moving through a number of roles with the company. Serving as a CIO for Carestream from ’04-’08, Wirley joined the U of R payroll shortly after as associate chief CIO. She earned her BA in American Studies and Computer Applications from Notre Dame, attaining her MBA from the University of Rochester.
